I get this question a lot. My main camera is a Canon EOS R1 and most of my portraits were shot with Zeiss Otus lenses: 28mm, 55mm, and 100mm. They're all manual focus lenses (adapted from EF mount) and I do miss focus sometimes because of this, but I love the look enough that it's worth it for me. On travel days I carry a Sony RX1R Mark III. To be clear, I'm not sponsored by any camera or lens company.

Here's the part that matters most though: I started photography without any of this fancy equipment. There are photos on my page shot on iPhone. So start with whatever you have. As the cliché goes, it's about telling a story, which you can do with any camera. In September 2023, after saving for a year as a delivery driver, I started taking daily portraits of people on South Street in Philadelphia.

I did this every single day for a year straight, no days off. Rain, sleet, snow, heat. You name it. My Instagram page went viral in the process and 150,000 portraits later, here we are. The platform has grown beyond South Street to the rest of Philadelphia, and travels around the world.

I want to emphasize that going viral didn't happen overnight. It was the culmination of a lifetime of photography and a dream to make a living doing it. Giving up and starting over many times. But the moral of the story is when you put in the work consistently, it allows more opportunities for you to be successful and achieve your goals.

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, but spent a lot of time in Morocco (Northwest Africa) growing up. My mother is originally from Casablanca and I am fluent in the Moroccan dialect of Arabic called Darija. As far as Philly roots, my father had an electronics shop on South Street and, as a college student, my mother worked at Greek restaurant South Street Souvlaki, still standing 40 years later.

Out on the street, it's a different story: I take complimentary photos to spread joy around the city, but I don't usually announce when or where. The point is for it to be spontaneous and a surprise, but if we cross paths, definitely say hello!

Yes, I shoot surprise marriage proposals on a limited, case-by-case basis. Here's how it works: I coordinate with you beforehand on the phone, leaving it a surprise for the bride or groom-to-be.

On the special day, you share your location, and I approach you both like it will be an ordinary street portrait, but I start filming video instead. You pull out a ring and get down on one knee while I capture the surprise and we do some traditional couple photography afterwards.

I've also participated in events with athletes including Allen Iverson and fellow content creators such as The Dogist, for their respective book tours. I went viral on social media by taking more than 100,000 street portraits of people along the iconic South Street in Philadelphia.
